Happiness can always be found, even in the darkest of times, if only one remembers to turn on the light……Dumbledore.
Hello, I’m Cassie and I love working with young people to help them take charge of their future and to make the positive changes they need to become the best version of themselves.
I have always been a ‘half full’ person so, working in a solution focused way, that concentrates on building strengths and resources to support the path to a preferred future, rather than revisiting past issues, is inspiring to me. Seeing the happy, confident look on a young person’s face after a session, when they realise all the positive things that they have and that they are, is truly an amazing experience.
Over the last 30 years I have worked in youth services in inner city areas of London , mental health services and have 25 years’ experience as a registered nurse working in a large NHS hospital. Seeing the rise in children and young people struggling with anxiety and depression drove my desire to train in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy and, of course, become a Youth Fairy.
I work with children aged 7 up to young adults and I can adapt my approach to work with those who have disabilities, additional needs and neurodiversity.
Areas I can help with include:
- Anxiety
- Low mood
- Stress and overwhelm
- Depression/Low mood
- Anger management
- Low confidence/self-esteem
- Performance anxiety ( Exams/public speaking/sporting events)
- Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
- Sleep disturbance
- Fears and Phobias
- Addictions
My Approach
Every child is unique so, before you decide to work with me, I offer a free, 1-hour consultation, which is an opportunity for you and your child to have meet with me and discuss their current situation. We’ll discuss the changes they would like to make and I’ll explain how Solution Focused Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy can support them in achieving their best hopes for their future.
We look at “how the brain works” which is an amazingly insightful process that resonates deeply with most children (and parents) and can be a real ‘light bulb’ moment. It helps young people understand the workings of their brains and how this can be contributing to how they are feeling.
My work is child-centred but often it leads to parents also gaining insight into their feelings and behaviours and wanting to pursue therapy which is something I would support. I pride myself in offering a calm, safe and fun environment where we build a trusting bond which underpins the work that we do.
About Me
Before becoming a therapist, my work as a Nurse developed a passion in me to want to stem the tide of young people reaching crisis point. Also, as a mum of 3 young children, the importance of giving young people the tools to help them navigate their thoughts and feelings in this complex modern world resonates with me on a personal level as well as professionally. I feel privileged to now find myself in the position where I can do just that. I am proud to be part of the youth fairy family as I feel the work that we do can be life changing for children, young people and their families.
I live with my husband and three children, enjoying a busy (and noisy !) life by the sea. I enjoy swimming in the sea, playing the viola, cooking and going away camping in Vera our motorhome.
I work within the professional and ethical codes of conduct as set out by the governing bodies to which I belong, and I’m committed to giving a high standard of holistic care.
I am fully insured and hold a current enhanced DBS certificate and am a member of the following professional bodies:
- National council of Hypnotherapist (NCH)
- Association for Solution Focussed Hypnotherapy (AfSFH)
- Complimentary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC)
- The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
