“Well, maybe it started that way. As a dream, but doesn’t everything? Those buildings. These lights. This whole city. Somebody had to dream about it first. And maybe that is what I did. I dreamed about coming here, but then I did it.” James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl
Hello, I’m Gill and I am passionate about facilitating positive changes in the lives of children, young people and their families. After 20 years of dedicated experience in supporting children, young people, parents, and staff within educational settings, I bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to my therapeutic practice.
Every child is unique, and I tailor my approach to suit their individual needs, ensuring a personalised journey towards a preferred outcome. Balancing the serious aspects of therapy with creative fun and humour not only makes the process more enjoyable, but also facilitates a more effective and fulfilling experience.
Your child’s well-being is my priority and I understand the importance of building trust to provide a safe environment for every individual I work with and this is why I offer a free, one-hour initial consultation, held face to face in Halton or online. It is not just a meeting; it is an opportunity to understand your child’s concerns and for you to gain insight into the therapeutic process.
During this time, I simplify the complexities of the brain, empowering your child to embark on a journey of positive change in their thoughts, behaviours and emotional response. Instead of dwelling on the past, paving the way for a brighter future filled with empowerment and self-hope to be the best version of themselves.
While change may initially seem daunting, it is the crucial first step towards unlocking your child’s full potential. However, our sessions are person-centred, and it can be incredibly useful for parents to establishes a common language to communicate and provide support and understanding more effectively.
About Me
I began my career as a key worker in a local mainstream primary school, working extensively with neurodiverse students, developing my knowledge and dedication in supporting children’s social, emotional well-being to equip them with the skills to thrive in life.
This led me to train and qualify in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy, completing a Medical Hypnotherapy Diploma and attending training from our local authority on supporting children for Emotional Based School Non-Attendance (EBSNA). Alongside my private therapy practice, I continue to deliver Solution Focused Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy in a local school as part of their pastoral and safeguarding team.
On a more personal note, I am married with two wonderful children in their twenties and Bentley, a black Cocker Spaniel, who is always at my side. As a family we enjoy taking long walks or bike rides together and spending time travelling to warmer climates. Being near water gives me a sense of peace and tranquillity – whether it is the rhythmic strokes in the sea or at the pool, the feeling of weightlessness, or simply being immersed in the calming environment, there’s something truly special about it.
