Hello, I’m Simone and I believe in positively empowering young people to help them successfully navigate the hurdles life can throw their way.
I love working with young people as they arrive with a completely different energy to adults. Their rule book of ‘how things work’ has yet to be established, so there are endless possibilities in front of them. Young people are fantastic at thinking ‘outside of the box’ as the box has yet to be fully formed around them.
My Approach
From me, your child will receive a solution focused approach, which allows us to work together as a team to create effective steps towards the positive changes they want to make. We start with what they want to change, then build on their ideas to work out how they can implement these changes to make them happier in their lives.
I work with children from 6+ to young adults and can adapt my approach to work with those with additional needs, including disabilities and neurodiversity. Areas I can support with include:
- Anxiety
- Stress
- Low mood
- Anger management
- Social anxiety
- Low self-esteem
- Low confidence
- Sports/exam performance
- Fears and phobias
- Obsessive-Compulsive Disorders (OCD)
- Exam stress and anxiety
- Transition to secondary school/college
- Trauma
- Self-harm
- Sleep problems
A bit about me
Before training in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy, I was a primary school teacher for 29 years, predominantly working with the upper age range. I spent my first 12 years working in London’s inner city, where I quickly learned that each child’s development was highly dependent on the relationship that they had with me as their teacher. At the beginning of each new year, I spent time forging relationships with my students as it enabled them to build self-esteem and get the very best from themselves. Expanding their social and emotional development in this way helped them feel confident in their academic learning.
While I was still teaching, I realised I wanted to focus my work and help children with their mental health. So, before becoming a therapist, I trained as a Thrive Practitioner, which taught me how to enhance the emotional wellbeing of children who had experienced trauma in their lives.
Furthermore, as a mum of a teenage boy and younger girl, I understand the dynamics of family life and how some days can be more challenging than others; finding the positives in these challenges is an excellent skill to learn and one that can be empowering for young people. I own a 3-year-old Sprocker spaniel that has endless energy for walks. Every day, she shows me the power that animals have, when young people are managing their mental health.
